A Guide to the Mountains Visible from Boulder, Colorado
Introduction
The city of Boulder, Colorado is well known for its beautiful mountain skyline.
This guide uses labeled photographs I have taken over the years to clearly explain
the major mountains visible from Boulder, including the Flatirons, nearby foothills,
and the high peaks of the Indian Peaks Wilderness.
I often use this list as a reference when submitting landscape photos,
because remembering mountain names can be surprisingly difficult!
Mountains Close to Boulder
This photo shows the iconic mountains that rise directly above Boulder:
- Flatirons
- South Boulder Peak and Bear Peak

The following photo shows the southern (left) side of the Indian Peaks Wilderness as seen from Boulder.
